WHY IS MY GARAGE DOOR OPENER BEEPING?

There’s nothing quite as annoying as a constant beeping sound, especially if you don’t know the cause. If you hear a beeping noise from your garage door opener, there are a few different things you want to troubleshoot. The good news is that it probably isn’t something you’ll need to call in a pro for. Your garage door opener is just trying to communicate with you. Here are three things your garage door might be telling you:

  1. If you’re closing your door using your LiftMaster® timer-to-closer or MyQ® technology, the garage door opener will beep and lights will flash to let you know that the door is closing. This is simply a warning mechanism to keep you in the loop about what’s going on.
  2. You may not run into this unless your power goes out, but whenever your garage door opener is running on its battery backup function, the garage door opener will beep. It’s letting you know that, for some reason, it had to go into battery backup mode.
  3. Another reason your garage door opener is beeping may be that the battery for your backup is running low. Look for the LED light on your garage door opener to see if this is the case. If you’re confused as to where to look on your garage door opener, check out the LiftMaster® video below.

If you run into a garage door beeping noise and the three options above aren’t answering your questions, please contact us. We’d love to help you figure out why your garage door opener is driving you crazy.
