WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING:

The spring broke on my garage door. I had heard Deluxe Door Systems ad on 104.9 The River and decided to give them a try. I have never been so pleased. Not only did they replace the broken spring they also corrected the issues with how bad the door had been initially installed by the builder. The also replaced parts that were missing. My door is now on straight with no gaps and works like a charm. It works better than it did when it was new, 15 years ago. The best part they did not charge me 1 penny more than they had quoted me for the spring repair. Also the technicians were so friendly, professional, and speedy. I cannot say enough!!! So refreshing this day and age!

We’ve heard it all: My garage door won’t close… My garage door opener isn’t working… My garage door just ate my van…

Good news is – we’ve seen it all before and can not only identify the problem quickly, but can also repair or service it quickly. Plus we’ve got some handy info that might give you more of an idea as to what the problem might be (as well as a few potential DIY solutions for you fixers out there).

MY GARAGE DOOR IS SQUEAKING LIKE CRAZY.

Want to try it yourself? Here’s how to un-squeakify your hinges:

  • Get out your owner’s manual to identify all the parts of your garage door and to look for any warnings.
  • Tighten all the parts in your garage door system and replace any old or rusted parts you see.
  • Identify which type of garage door opener you have – Screw Drive Opener OR Track Opener. This will affect what you need to grease.
    • Screw Drive Openers – you’ll want to grease the garage door opener threads
    • Track Openers – you’ll want to grease the garage door opener track
  • Next it’s a good idea to spray the hinges, roller bearings, and springs with a garage door lubricant

If you just don’t have the time, one of our technicians will be happy to come and teach your garage door a lesson in manners, with a full servicing.

MY GARAGE DOOR WON’T OPEN OR CLOSE.

Door not opening or closing? First things first: Narrow down the problem by trying to open your garage with the transmitter (remote) only. Then try using the wall button only. That will help you narrow it down. If neither works, it’s likely a problem with the door opener itself. You can attempt to repair it with a reset (unplug the opener and plug it back in at the power source), but if that doesn’t work, you’ll probably want a professional to come out and look at it.

THERE’S A GAP AT THE BOTTOM OF MY GARAGE DOOR.

So it closes completely on one side but looks like small animals could get through on the other, right? Usually cables cause this problem. We know how to repair that.

MY GARAGE DOOR OPENS, BUT IT MAKES SOME WEIRD NOISES AND MOVES SLOWER THAN NORMAL.

You may need to grease the metal rollers and hinges of your garage door opener. If that doesn’t help, or if you don’t want to go through all that greasy hassle, just give us a call.

MY TRANSMITTER (REMOTE) ISN’T WORKING, AND I CAN ONLY USE THE WALL BUTTON.

We’d hate for you to waste time and money, so first check your batteries. Hopefully it’s an easy repair. Batteries good? Next easy test: You can try resetting your system. To reset, just unplug your garage door opener at the power source and plug it back in. Still no luck? Sometimes the sensors (at the bottom of your garage door frame) get dirty or bumped with all those trips in and out of the garage. You may want to clean the “eyes” of the sensors off and make sure they’re pointing in the right direction.

MY GARAGE DOOR FALLS TO THE GROUND INSTEAD OF GLIDING TO A STOP.

Unless you’re one of the techiest people on your block, this won’t be one of the DIY projects you can tackle. Your garage door springs have gone bad and need replaced. Don’t worry, we cover homes all around Columbus and Central Ohio. Give us a call and we can get your door back in shape.

RIGHT WHEN I THINK MY GARAGE DOOR IS GOING TO CLOSE, IT STOPS AND OPENS UP AGAIN.

There are actual limits you can set for your garage door that determine how far it will open and close. A good troubleshooting option is checking the owner’s manual for instructions on how to set your garage door limits. If that doesn’t work, we can help.

MY GARAGE DOOR FELL ON MY CAR.

Yikes. This is “the big one” – the Granddaddy of garage door opener problems. We’d be happy to come take a look. You could get hurt trying to lift or maneuver your broken garage door, so please don’t attempt to do anything. Give us a call, and we’ll be right out to repair it.

MY GARAGE DOOR OPENS ON ITS OWN.

You can rule out your house being haunted, because this is a common problem. You’re likely dealing with an electrical problem or a faulty spring. If electrical, there may be a short either in your transmitter (remote) or the button on your garage wall. Something isn’t telling the garage door to open, so you have to fix the breakdown in communication. Here’s a test you can do: Remove the batteries from the transmitter and try to operate the garage door using only the wall button. If the wall button works, it’s a problem with your transmitter. If the wall button doesn’t work, you could try unscrewing it from the wall and checking the wiring. If you’re confused at this point, don’t worry. That’s normal! We can help you. It could be electrical, or it could be a problem with your garage door springs.
